Book releases I look forward to in 2014

There are a few books coming out this year I’m definitely looking forward to and their release dates are even marked in my phone, Filofax and calendar at work!

Let me introduce them to you:

The King (Black Dagger Brotherhood) – J R Ward ( 1 April 2014)

Long live the King

After turning his back on the throne for centuries, Wrath, son of Wrath, finally assumed his father’s mantle–with the help of his beloved mate. But the crown sets heavily on his head. As the war with the Lessening Society rages on, and the threat from the Band of Bastards truly hits home, he is forced to make choices that put everything–and everyone–at risk. Beth Randall thought she knew what she was getting into when she mated the last pure blooded vampire on the planet: An easy ride was not it. But when she decides she wants a child, she’s unprepared for Wrath’s response–or the distance it creates between them. The question is, will true love win out… or tortured legacy take over?

I loved the BDB series for a long time, the last book I wasn’t really pleased with. It didn’t grip me as the other ones did but I did promise myself to only read the next book if it was about the king. Little did I know that the next book was about The King! So imagine my excitement when I did found out. I have pre-ordered it for my Kindle, I was too late with signing up for the Virtual Signing with JR Ward. Maybe next time, or maybe I can find a Special Edition at Barnes & Noble.

City of Heavenly Fire (The Mortal Instruments) – Cassandra Clare (27 May 2014)

Erchomai, Sebastian had said.

I am coming.

Darkness returns to the Shadowhunter world. As their society falls apart around them, Clary, Jace, Simon and their friends must band together to fight the greatest evil the Nephilim have ever faced: Clary’s own brother. Nothing in the world can defeat him — must they journey to another world to find the chance? Lives will be lost, love sacrificed, and the whole world changed in the sixth and last installment of the Mortal Instruments series!

Once again a serie I loved reading about with the first 3 books. After that I just was about able to get through the 4th book and the 5th book is still waiting on my Kindle to be read past chapter 3… I just couldn’t foster enough energy to read about Clare and Jace, Clare does sometimes can come across as a whiney teenager…

Why I still want to read this and why is this on my to read list is plain simple, it is the last book in the series and would love to read the end, how will it all end and will they have their HEA? I can’t leave a book series and will want to read till the bitter end and so also with this one. I’m curious how Cassandra will tie up the series.

Shield of Winter (Psy-Changeling) – Nalini Singh (5 June 2014)

Assassin. Soldier. Arrow. That is who Vasic is, who he will always be. His soul drenched in blood, his conscience heavy with the weight of all he’s done, he exists in the shadows, far from the hope his people can almost touch—if only they do not first drown in the murderous insanity of a lethal contagion. To stop the wave of death, Vasic must complete the simplest and most difficult mission of his life.
For if the Psy race is to survive, the empaths must wake…
Having rebuilt her life after medical “treatment” that violated her mind and sought to suffocate her abilities, Ivy should have run from the black-clad Arrow with eyes of winter frost. But Ivy Jane has never done what she should. Now, she’ll fight for her people, and for this Arrow who stands as her living shield, yet believes he is beyond redemption. But as the world turns to screaming crimson, even Ivy’s fierce will may not be enough to save Vasic from the cold darkness…

This is book #16 from the Psy-Changeling series. One other series I love and will get their own dedicated blogpost. Hopefully soon! This is a book about an Arrow, I really can’t wait to read this. Also I’m curious how the Psy world is now and if there is a proper war starting and how this world is going to survive something big like that. And I hope I will read bits about Kaleb, man that man is amazing!

Silver Shadows (Bloodlines) – Richelle Mead (29 July 2014)

Sydney Sage is an Alchemist, one of a group of humans who dabble in magic and serve to bridge the worlds of humans and vampires. They protect vampire secrets—and human lives. In The Fiery Heart, Sydney risked everything to follow her gut, walking a dangerous line to keep her feelings hidden from the Alchemists. Now in the aftermath of an event that ripped their world apart, Sydney and Adrian struggle to pick up the pieces and find their way back to each other. But first, they have to survive.
For Sydney, trapped and surrounded by adversaries, life becomes a daily struggle to hold on to her identity and the memories of those she loves. Meanwhile, Adrian clings to hope in the face of those who tell him Sydney is a lost cause, but the battle proves daunting as old demons and new temptations begin to seize hold of him. . . .

Their worst fears now a chilling reality, Sydney and Adrian face their darkest hour in this heart-pounding fifth installment in the New York Times bestselling Bloodlines series, where all bets are off.

This is book 5 out of 6 from the spin-off series from the Vampire Academy, Bloodlines. I love to know how Sydney survives the alchemists, how the world perceives Adrian and Sydney’s relationship. Will their centre hold? Will we see more Abe, Rose and Dimitri? Will they help Sydney and Adrian out the way they have helped them out several times? Will Eddie finally feel like the proper guardian instead of the guardian who is always getting kidnapped or gets in trouble, for mostly helping out Rose? Will Eddie and Jill’s relationship hold? How will the witch coven reacts to Sydney’s disappearance? See too many questions going on in my head… I want to know now..!!

Dark Blood (Dark Carpathian) – Christine Feehan (September 2014)

At long last you are truly back with us…

Zev Hunter was an elite warrior, a dark-blood dealer of death to rogue Lycans who preyed on mankind. He was a loner, never given to personal attachments, and damned fierce at his job. But Zev begins to question his past and his purpose when he awakens in the darkness of the sacred cave of warriors—and is soothed back to consciousness by the sensuously familiar voice of one woman, the woman who has haunted his fantasies for centuries. She was Branislava, member of the Dragonseeker clan…

Mother Earth called the ancients to witness your rebirth…
For this half-mage, half-Carpathian temptress, the ritual of awakening Zev to the council of warriors was the only way to save him. Locked away for his own protection, the time has now come for his rebirth, for his blood to stir with that of the ancient warriors before him. He has been assured by Branislava that their fates are entwined, that their spirits are woven together for eternity and that his new purpose in life is beyond imagining.
Now, with a blood-sworn vow of honor, mercy and endurance, and under the influence of a siren as bewitching as Branislava, Zev begins to wonder what his purpose is, what it means for the future of the Carpathians and what it is about his rebirth that he has to fear…

This will be book #26 in the Dark Carpathian series. At the moment I’m still reading book #23 (Dark Storm) so not sure how far the stories will have been evolved. But definitely a book I’m waiting for in this series.

Did you know btw that Carpathians are a range of mountains that ranges across the central and eastern europe?
Good book tips, thanx! Hugs and kisses, Mijntje.
