A very bookish Christmas

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all my followers and readers of my blog! You have no idea how happy it makes me that people are actually reading my ramblings ^_^

How was your Christmas? Did you got spoilt with some presents? Let me know!

We had quite a few busy days with Christmas and I decided I needed to give myself a week’s break from my blogging – which helped a lot! I have got some ideas in my head of what I want to do with my blog over the next year, but I have to see how to combine this with work and courses I do as well.

I had to work till 24th December, and on Christmas Eve we drove up to North Wales to spend Christmas Eve and Christmas Day there (It is roughly about a 5hr drive). On Christmas Day in the evening we decided to drive back, it was a good decision overall so we could have our own Christmas Day on Boxing Day, but there was also lots of snow on the roads on Boxing Day. So it was all in all a very good decision! And now I am sitting and typing this with a huge sore throat and not feeling 100% but I really wanted to post something.
I think I have been spoiled book wise with Christmas this year. I have received from my husband The Hobbit and from my manager at work I received Hogwarts Library set with Quidditch Through the Ages, The Tales of Beedle the Bard and Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them!

The eagerly anticipated follow-up to One Hundred Proposals.

If you thought Harry & Suzie’s life couldn’t get anymore sweepingly romantic than Harry asking her to marry him at the end of One Hundred Proposals – think again!

It’s Christmas in a snow-kissed London, and the.PerfectProposal.com have vowed to carry out one hundred proposals in December. No easy task at the best of times – made even more complicated by Harry & Suzie trying to plan their first Christmas and a visit from the dreaded in-laws. But one hundred deliciously Christmassy proposals later they find themselves asking if everything is still perfect in their own relationship….

Welcome back to the divinely warm world of One Hundred Proposals – with a sprinkling of pure, joyful, festive magic.

Have yourself a very merry Christmas indeed with Holly Martin’s Christmas novella.

My thoughts

I loved coming back to the story of Harry and Suzie! They managed to steal a piece of my heart and wedge themselves in there forever!
We are coming back to the story where they are now engaged for a couple of months (I re-read One Hundred Proposals again just to read about his proposal) and Suzie is ready to tie the knot!

But ofcourse their business the.perfectproposal.com has given themselves the challenge to do 100 proposals in December! Very ambitious but very doable as every proposal gets chocolates, champagne and flowers (heck even I wanted to recreate a proposal to my now husband for free champagne hehe).

Suzie is in charge of arranging the last proposal on New Years Eve in London and is very excited she’s getting free reign in it so she basically creates something she would really love!

I absolutely loved Harry’s devotion to Suzie and Suzie’s almost impatience with getting married! Loved reading about their best friends as well.

This is a perfect Christmas read and a perfect novella for One Hundred Proposals. I could only describe it as you had an amazing fantastic main course in one of your favourite restaurants (One Hundred Proposals) and you end the night with the best dessert ever (One Hundred Christmas Proposals) to compliment eachother!

I would recommend reading One Hundred Proposals first – just to get you an idea how they got where they are right now in life.

More Holly books please!

Blog Tour, Giveaway & Review: The Christmas Spirit – Susan Buchanan

The Christmas Spirit Tour BannerWelcome at the awesome blog tour of The Christmas Spirit! I have read this book back in October where I was still shying away from the dreaded ‘C’ word – but this book really got me in the spirits! Go and enjoy and let me know in the comments what you think. ^_^

thechristmasspirit5_finalChristmas is coming, but not everyone is looking forward to it.

Rebecca has just been dumped and the prospect of spending the holiday period with her parents is less than appealing.

Eighty- two year old Stanley lost his beloved wife, Edie, to cancer. How will he cope with his first Christmas without her?

Jacob’s university degree hasn’t helped him get a job, and it looks like he’ll still be signing on come New Year.

Workaholic Meredith would rather spend December 25th at home alone with a ready meal and a DVD box set. Can anything make her embrace the spirit of the season?

The enigmatic Natalie Hope takes over the reins at the Sugar and Spice bakery and café in an attempt to spread some festive cheer and restore Christmas spirit, but will she succeed?

My Thoughts

I quite enjoyed this book – from the beginning it reminded me a little bit of Mary Poppins… and I love Mary Poppins!

Natalie Hope is in town and she’s determined to turn around and give out the Christmas Spirit to 4 people who deserve it, or need it the most – sometimes even without knowing that they need it!
I quite liked Natalie from the beginning, the detail in which Rose Cottage was described was so cute and lovely I had an instant picture of it in my head! So cute and romantic ^_^
She starts in this cute bakery and instantly feeds the customers the Christmas Spirit and installs some festive cheer – well it certainly did for me!

All 4 people in this story, Meredith, Jacob, Stanley, Rebecca and a few more other side characters, are all so in need of the Festive Cheer that I wanted all to give them a hug and sit down and listen to all of their stories. I can’t give away too much without giving away the story, but even the people where you think… why do you need to be helped you are downright rude – need a helping hand in finding the Christmas spirit. Yes if you read it you probably know who I am talking about and I also had pre-conceptions…
There is also a little bit of romance which was just really good and romantic and ideal for the book.

The cakes deserve a special mention! I almost felt the need to start baking for days on end!! I was drooling everytime Natalie was baking a new Christmas cake! I desperately need some recipes ^_^

A beautiful story about the magic of childhood Christmas memories, the strength of family and falling in love when you least expect it.

Everyone loves Christmas – don’t they?

Carrie Blake loves her job as a nanny but, while her friends are settling down, all of Carrie’s spare time is spent with other people’s families. Though it breaks her heart, her New Year’s resolution is to embark on a new career and fix her love life.

As Carrie starts her last job, she’s sure she’ll be going out on a high – the house is amazing , the kids are adorable, and she’s in charge of decorating the tree!

The only problem could be her boss… single-dad Adam Fletcher might be both handsome and successful, but he’s always working. Doesn’t he realise he’s missing out on precious moments with his son and daughter?

As Adam’s family arrive for Christmas including his sensitive sister, Sharon, and his fun-loving elderly Grandpa, Walter, Carrie realises that she might just have found the perfect allies in her quest to persuade Adam to loosen up.
