Gooooood morning all!
I know, I know, it is Monday again! – but I had a busy weekend…. ! ^_^ I hope you all had a lovely week?
On Friday the Red Arrows were stationed at Farnborough Airport – they were suppose to take off at lunchtime – but because it was really soaking with rain the display in Southsea was cancelled and therefore they didn’t move…. but I did manage to take a picture from a distance, even though if that meant wet and soaked shoes and feet! But oh so worth it – you might have guessed my obsession with Red Arrows and other fast jets ^_^
As I said I had quite a busy but fun weekend, not much else has happened to be honest…. On Saturday I had a BBQ with some very good friends – too much to eat and too much to drink… but loved it nonetheless!
But before that in the morning I quickly went around town to the charity shops, cause I just love browsing through them once a month – that is where I mostly buy my Dutch and Delfsblue goodies… way cheaper and I support a charity… Bonus!
I came away with books – non discussable now… You will see them in an upcoming post, probably later tonight or tomorrow.
In the afternoon I met up with one of my best mates and her fiancee and went to live music in Aldershot – just sat at the bandstand on the grass listening to live bands from about 12-ish. Was really fun and had a good time – even though some bands where just… erm… yeah…! Hey – Kudos to them, I don’t see myself doing this!
On Sunday morning I went again with my best mate to Winchester, the supposedly food festival was on…. WRONG! It was just the Hampshire Farmers Market – nothing wrong with that…. but we expected a food festival. But nonetheless we had lots of fun. Just spend some quality time together had a good old chat about stuff and bought some nice goodies and browsed around. Even though she has been very patience with me…. as I was walking around with a blooming hangover…! Whoops! Well that’s what friends are for I guess ^_^
Look below what I treated myself – a beautiful stationary pack from Tinc – such a cute and beautiful shop!
Well have a fab day all! And next week’s chat will be skipped, as I will be camping with my friends…. so the next non-bookish chat will be on Monday 10th August!

Good morning all at my 2nd Non-Bookish chat! I have to admit, not a lot has happened last week… I know… boring!
However – I have been to the Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) in Fairford on Saturday and I have indulged in my other geeky side – planes… not just any planes… Military planes! Vulcans, Spitfires, The Red Arrows, Chinook, Apaches, A400M, F-16s, Typhoons… Preferably the fast planes, they are my favourites!
Of course I had to be there, I love it in Fairford, been once in 2013 and in equal years I will indulge myself in the Farnborough Airshow which happens every 2 years.
So this post will be my RIAT 2015 Fairford – gushing over planes – post! Also check out my Youtube channel for a few video’s I have made that day ^_^
However, it was RIAT’s turn this year… and man what a day it was! The Vulcan held it last flying display there and as a special treat there was a flypast with the Red Arrows as well. Que lump in throat and what was more impressive was that everyone was hushed and quiet – everyone seemed in awe of the Vulcan XH558! Ok ok you have to squint your eyes… but those red dots are the Red Arrows and the bigger dot is the Vulcan!
But of course there is more! I went inside a C130-Hercules from the RNLAF – yes… the Royal Netherlands Air Force – How could I not?!? And the pilot felt sorry for me that I couldn’t get any Paprika crisps – so I bagged myself two free bags… man were they special and they did not lasted long!
I also saw the Osprey flying from the USAF and that was pretty amazing – so quiet and a uniquely shaped aircraft…. It was amazing to watch!
And how could I forget the A400M – what an amazing aircraft from the RAF and so huge! And a plane that size should not have done the things it showed in the flying display…!
It was a truly amazing day – and I would highly recommend a day out to everyone like this. The planes, the atmosphere the displays, flying or static are amazing. Such a gorgeous day out and bonus – kids under 16 are free!
Have you ever been to an airshow? let me know in the comments below ^_^
Good morning! Grab a coffee, maybe a biscuit or two and sit down and enjoy my first blog post in a new series called Non-Bookish chat. I will take you through my ‘exciting’ life from the past week…. Why did I put excited between brackets? Well… it is because I do work full time so when things might look exciting to me, it might just be a hmpf moment for someone else haha!
Why would I like to chat to you about non-bookish things on a bookblog? Well it is because I think I have lots to share or at least let you know my thoughts and feelings about what I encounter on a daily basis. I am after all still a Dutch citizen living for the past 7 years in the UK and for the past 3 years here in Aldershot, the home of the Military!
But I feel like I am almost losing your attention already, so let’s get to it!
Thursday I made my Meatballs – yes meatballs! What is so special about them? Well I made them from scratch on my own recipe with some help from Blond Amsterdam cooking book – these are called Gran’s Meatballs! I made these with 500gr mincemeat, 70% pork and 30% beef, throw in some milk, egg, breadcrumbs, onion and garlic and voila you have created these amazing meatballs! The smells were amazing and the approving sounds from 2 squaddies made my day ^_^

Hey all – you might have been wondering where I have been? Well it has been quite a hectic last couple of weeks for me in my private life and therefore blogging and even reading had been put on hold! Shock… I know… even reading!
But I am trying to get back in the game again with some hopefully good new surprises along the way, not many as I quite enjoy my blog the way it is. You will see one notice fairly soon, which is my weekly non-bookish updates. This is for me a way to briefly let you in on my non-bookish life and what else I do and achieve as a Dutch person living in the UK for the past 7 years. Plus I think it will give some variety to not only my blog, but for my readers and for myself.
Thank you for sticking with me and I hope you enjoy the minor changes and the many book reviews & tours to come!
And for now I will leave you with a picture of me on my holiday in Amsterdam visiting family, walking the Plus Wandel4daagse Alkmaar eating some well deserved Hollandse Nieuwe (in other words, I did a walking event of walking almost 10 miles a day for 4 days having loads of fun and here you can see me eating raw herring with onions!)
