Top Ten Tuesday – Top Ten Goals/Resolutions For 2015 — bookish, blogging or otherwise!

toptentuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created here at The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because we are particularly fond of lists here at The Broke and the Bookish. We’d love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!

This week’s topic: Top Ten Goals/Resolutions For 2015 — bookish, blogging or otherwise!

I think most of my resolutions or goals for 2015 will be bookish and have to do with blogging. My blog will be one year old end of February and I must think of a nice way to celebrate this, maybe with a giveaway and I might buy my own domain as a treat! We will see what I come up with.

1. Read more of my actual paperback to read list – I have so many books on my bookshelf in the livingroom ready to be picked up and be read! So my goal is to read more of those and leave my kindle for a little bit. See how that will work out, shall we? haha.

2. Try to keep up with weekly and monthly posts – This is particularly difficult for me, no matter how hard I try! I understand it is for viewers and readers better to know when to expect this weekly or monthly posts I just have to try harder and actually sit for it! I can do this!

3. Read what and when I want – I particularly learned in my first year of book blogging that you can easily can get caught up in accepting reviews and it made a struggle for me to read and review those. When I have to do something it can take the fun out of it. Many times I have picked up a book reluctantly and 9 out of 10 times it turned out a fantastic book, but sometimes it also turned out to be not so good and it really kicked my reading mojo. I know my blog is quite young in the blogging world, but to keep control over it I will accept less reviews and read my own books and write those reviews. The actual intention of starting my blog in the first place. This ties up nicely with my To Read pile on #2.

4. Sort out Goodreads shelves/books – Yeah there are books on there I know I will never read and I need to be more organised with books I’ve read but still need to review. So new shelves and a clean up of my To Read list on Goodreads is in order.

Top Ten Tuesday – Top Ten New-To-Me Authors I Read In 2014

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created here at The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because we are particularly fond of lists here at The Broke and the Bookish. We’d love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!

This week’s topic: Top Ten New-To-Me Authors I Read In 2014

The list below is in no particular order and I probably could’ve written a top 30 ….

  1. Kate McCarthy – I absolutely adore her Give Me series, Book #1 Give me Love – which is free on Amazon UK and Amazon US
  2. Holly Martin – Her books One Hundred Proposals which gave us Harry and Suzie was adorable, and then she published a sequel to it called One Hundred Christmas Proposals which made me fall in love with this couple even more! Go check out more books by Holly Martin – she’s an awesome writer!
  3. Christine Feehan – In January this year I got introduced to her Dark Carpathian series by a friend of mine, boy little did I know I was going to be hooked and would be reading her whole series in 2 months! Fabulous Paranormal Romance series about these awesome Carpathians, check out book #1 Dark Prince.
  4. Tahereh Mafi – I stumbled upon the Shatter Me Series and instantly fell in love with it. For once the love triangle didn’t bother me, purely because I felt there wasn’t really one and the ‘other’ guy I found way more interesting.
  5. Rainbow Rowell – Her first book I read was Landline and I fell in love with the other side of the love story – a marriage almost broken trying to be fixed by this ‘weird’ yellow landline. Unique story and lovely characters. I have got Fangirl and Eleanor & Park ready to be read.
  6. Diana Gabaldon – How can I forget the author who brought me Jamie & Claire in Outlander (US) or titled Cross Stitch (UK)! The ultimate couple in history with a fantastic Historic, Time Travel not a romance book. A book you can’t really categorise but I can highly recommend! I am on book 4 and I really need to get into it again! Jamie & Claire will forever be in my heart.
  7. Sawyer Bennett – She gave me my first Ice Hockey novel and I was sold! The Cold Fury Hockey series is quite entertaining and very hot with guys like Alex and now Garrett in the mix!
  8. Aven Ellis – She gave me Waiting for Prince Harry and I ABSOLUTELY loved this story! Such a beautiful, humouristic and lovely story about another Ice Hockey Player ^_^
  9. Jenny Hale – With A Christmas to Remember, Jenny Hale took my breath away with her beautifully written story and with a true Christmas spirit story. It was so lovely and wonderful, this book will always be on my to-read list!
  10. Robin Covington – She gave me a lovely story about a hot fireman and a famous Country Singer, called Temptation, and I loved it – I think Robin was my first New Adult book and I haven’t looked back since.

Right this is my Top 10 – what is yours? Let me know in the comments below!

Top Ten Tuesday – Top Ten Books On My Winter TBR

toptentuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created here at The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because we are particularly fond of lists here at The Broke and the Bookish. We’d love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!

This week’s topic: Top Ten Books On My Winter TBR

  1. Drums of Autumn by Diana Gabaldon: I have started this back in September, but it is now on my Winter TBR because it is quite a big book and it will be perfect to read on these long winter nights.
  2. Humbugs & Heartstring by Catherine Ferguson: A perfect Christmas book, or so I like to think and been told by my fellow blog friends. So can’t wait to start this!
  3. Iced by Karen Marie Moning: Winter time I try to read books I have got on my TBR list for a while now and this is one of them. No idea why I haven’t really started this as I love the Fever series.
  4. The Fiery Cross by Diana Gabaldon: Well I love the Outlander series, especially Jamie and Claire and I am hoping to be able to read this one this winter as well. I love Diana’s writing, but it can be quite intense reading in the way she describes things. So I need to take my time with this.
  5. A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin: Yes, I believe I am the only one on this planet who hasn’t read this book yet or doesn’t really enjoy the TV Series. But I would love to read this book – so what better time to start than the winter… right?
  6. The Lord of the Rings trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien: You might have noticed the sheer volume of big books I am putting on my Winter TBR… I guess I associated winter with exactly just that! And yes … I admit… I have never ever read these books….*hides*
  7. Burned by Karen Marie Moning: Book 7 in Fever series and I can’t wait to get back to Jericho and Mac and an more adult Dani 🙂
  8. The Ruby Circle by Richelle Mead: I strongly believe February is still in the Winter *giggles* – So I am putting this last book of the Bloodlines in there! I need more Sydney and Adrian and I want to know how Richelle is going to end this marvelous series.

Now I know this is not a Top 10 but I don’t have more books on my Winter TBR – I do have more books on my normal TBR list but none of them speaks ‘Winter’ to me.

Let me know in the comments below what your Top Ten is!
