Bookshelf / TV Unit – Ikea

Unpacking bags and boxes of books is quite fun! The books have been stacked in an old Ikea TV Unit. No need (yet) for new shelves so re-using the old tv unit!

The books will probably be rearranged again and again till I’m satisfied hehe.

Internet will be back on Wednesday 23rd April. I haven’t sat still… been re-reading the Guild hunters series by Nalini Singh. So reviews to follow!

Charlie

Book Review: The King (BDB #12) – JR Ward

This book is part of a series called Black Dagger Brotherhood. I would recommend reading this series from the start, starting with Dark Lover, as it otherwise might confuse you as this book moves on from where it left off the previous books with a few new characters.

#1 J.R. Ward’s # 1 New York Times bestselling Black Dagger Brotherhood continues as a royal bloodline is compromised by a grave threat to the throne.

Long live the King

After turning his back on the throne for centuries, Wrath, son of Wrath, finally assumed his father’s mantle–with the help of his beloved mate. But the crown sets heavily on his head. As the war with the Lessening Society rages on, and the threat from the Band of Bastards truly hits home, he is forced to make choices that put everything–and everyone–at risk. Beth Randall thought she knew what she was getting into when she mated the last pure blooded vampire on the planet: An easy ride was not it. But when she decides she wants a child, she’s unprepared for Wrath’s response–or the distance it creates between them. The question is, will true love win out… or tortured legacy take over?

Reading at work

Today I asked my manager if we could make today a ‘let-Charlie-read-her-Kindle-at-work-all-day’ day. Unfortunately he declined my superb idea and he laughed at me… laughed at me…! How dare he, doesn’t he understand that I’m in a middle of a battle between good and evil? That my Carpathian is on the brink of finding his lifemate? That reading about a fiery red dragon is just as important as my daily work?
I begged, I pleaded… but to no avail. Managers just don’t understand! ^_^

Does anyone else experience this as well? That you just want to sit at your desk at work and open your kindle and drift away, in my case into the Carpathian Mountains? He did praise me; he said it was a nice try haha. Oh well, I tried. Maybe we can make it a national day? Bring your book/kindle to work day, or a bring your book/kindle to work day and read whilst doing your job.

I had to try, I will now just stick to my lunchbreaks and in mornings, I hope to change his mind someday. ^_^

Love,
Charlie

Book releases I look forward to in 2014

There are a few books coming out this year I’m definitely looking forward to and their release dates are even marked in my phone, Filofax and calendar at work!

Let me introduce them to you:

The King (Black Dagger Brotherhood) – J R Ward ( 1 April 2014)

I loved the BDB series for a long time, the last book I wasn’t really pleased with. It didn’t grip me as the other ones did but I did promise myself to only read the next book if it was about the king. Little did I know that the next book was about The King! So imagine my excitement when I did found out. I have pre-ordered it for my Kindle, I was too late with signing up for the Virtual Signing with JR Ward. Maybe next time, or maybe I can find a Special Edition at Barnes & Noble.
