Yesterday, Sunday 30th March, was the European Divergent film premiere in London and lucky me had won tickets to attend exclusively the Fan Event on Leicester Square, walk the red carpet and then watch the film in the Odeon whilst being opened by some of the cast members and the author Veronica Roth! So I was over the moon when I knew I won 3 tickets to attend this fabulous day, as Divergent is one of my favourite book trilogy. Knowing I was on the same square in the same building as Veronica Roth, Kate Winslet, Shailene Woodley, Theo James and Ben Lloyd-Hughes was immense..! I think I’m still on a high from yesterday.
This is about a series of books with Katniss Everdeen, a random girl from District 12, being in the centre of the attention without really meaning to. In this future America, this has been divided into 12 districts, or was it 13? And because District 13 in the past had tried to do an uprising against the Capitol (basically District 1) and failed the Capitol has not only destroyed district 13 but also created The Hunger Games. Which means that from each district a boy and a girl, entering unvoluntarily from the age of 12, will be drawn and entered into this game where only 1 wins/survives. If you lose, you have died in these games. This is the ‘celebration’ of the lost uprising from District 13.
